Inlay chest

Art. 8-1433

Length: 159 cm

Depth: 55 cm

Height: 61 cm

Particular late 17th-century chest from Emilia Romagna, but with an important influence of style from the nearby Veneto region.

At that time the decorative element created by inlay was very much in vogue, demonstrating the skill of the region’s woodworkers who had at their disposal only basic and rudimentary working tools.

The chest is constructed with Italian solid walnut wood, while the bottom and back were made from fruit tree wood.

The chest was carefully restored on the front of inlay.

The cornice of the lowering and the corbelled feet were reproduced to the present day since it lacked them.
