The solid structure of this sacristy furniture is highlighted by the length and depth of the sideboard.
From the shape and material it is inferred that this piece of furniture came from a sacristy in the province of Belluno.
The artifact is original and consists of two pieces worth dwelling on:
- the top with five doors and four small drawers was used to hold the liturgical office furnishings that at the end of the Liturgy of the Word were brought to the altar and used for the celebration of the Eucharist. This piece dates from the late 16th.
- the sideboard with its three spacious compartments housed monstrance, crosses, reliquaries, candlesticks, candle holders, liturgical bells. This base was reproduced presumably towards the end of the 19th century, a period determined by the age of the wood and the method of construction, as a replacement for the original that may have been destroyed by the moisture and wear and tear of time. The structure of the sideboard is made of larch wood, which belongs to the genus Larix, a type of conifer, and is a tree native to central Europe, common in Italy in the Alps.
